What to do in a dental emergency

Hands in blue gloves holding dental instruments

Short answer

If a permanent tooth is knocked out, hold it by the crown, keep it moist in milk or next to your cheek, and get care within 30 minutes. If it breaks, rinse and apply cold. Go to the emergency room if you have spreading swelling, fever, or trouble breathing or swallowing.

In Santo Domingo, call Confidental Studio’s emergency line: (829) 531-4447. We also see patients outside opening hours.

If the tooth has been out longer, it’s still worth calling: sometimes it can be saved even after an hour.
